Finding Your Size

Sizing is the biggest reason clothes get sent back, and most of it is avoidable. Online you cannot try a piece on, so a few minutes with a tape measure does the job of a fitting room. This guide walks through what to measure, how to read our size options, and what happens if the fit is still not right.

What you need

A soft tape measure (the kind tailors use) and a mirror or a helper. If you do not have a tape, a piece of string and a ruler works just as well: wrap the string, mark it, then lay it flat against the ruler. Measure over light clothing or underwear, and stand naturally rather than pulling your stomach in. The number you want is the honest one.

The four measurements that matter

  • Chest or bust: around the fullest part, with the tape level across your back.
  • Waist: around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the navel. For trousers and skirts, also check where you actually wear them, since many people wear waistbands lower than their natural waist.
  • Hips: around the fullest part, usually about 20 cm below the waist.
  • Length: for kurtas, dresses and skirts, measure from your shoulder or waist down to where you want the hem to fall.

Compare with something you already own

The most reliable trick is to lay your best-fitting garment flat and measure it: across the chest, across the waist, and down the length. Then compare those numbers to the size details on the product page. A garment you love is a better reference than any general chart, because it captures how you like clothes to fall, snug, relaxed or somewhere in between.

Reading our size options

Most of our apparel comes in S, M, L and XL. Footwear such as the Minimal Everyday Sneakers uses numeric sizes from 39 to 43, and the Block Heel Sandals run from 36 to 40. Scarves and bags are one size.

A few rules of thumb we give anyone who asks:

  • If you are between two sizes, choose the larger for shirts, jackets and anything you plan to layer.
  • Choose your usual size for relaxed cuts like the Wide-Leg Trousers, which are meant to have room.
  • For fitted pieces such as the Ribbed Knit Top, go by your bust and waist measurements and do not size up unless you want a looser look.
  • For footwear, measure your foot length at the end of the day when feet are slightly larger, and if you are between sizes take the bigger one, especially for sandals with a strap.

Different pieces, different ease

Ease is the extra room built into a garment beyond your body measurement. A tee has little; a denim jacket or an overshirt is cut with plenty. That is why you might be a medium in one piece and a large in another from the same store. It is not inconsistent; it is design. Whenever a product page mentions a relaxed or tailored cut, take that as your cue about how much ease to expect.

Fabric changes the fit

Cotton and denim can relax a little with wear and wash, while linen softens but keeps its shape, and knits stretch with the body. If a piece fits comfortably in the shop-fresh state, it will usually keep fitting. If it feels tight in a way that makes you hold your breath, it will not get kinder on its own, so size up.

Ordering for family and gifts

If you are buying for someone else, ask for a favourite garment's measurements rather than a size letter. Letter sizes mean different things across brands. For gifts, a scarf or bag removes the guesswork entirely, and a gift card lets the person choose their own size.

If it does not fit

Returns are accepted within 14 days, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Try it on indoors on a clean floor, keep the tags attached, and message us with your order number and what felt off. Telling us what was wrong, too tight across the shoulders for instance, helps us advise you on which size to order next rather than guessing a second time.

Cash on delivery and fit

Because we offer cash on delivery, you can open the parcel, check that the item is the one you ordered and see the fabric in person before you pay. Our team also confirms orders on WhatsApp, which is a good moment to ask a sizing question. Send your measurements and the piece you are looking at, and we will tell you honestly which size we would pick.

A short checklist

  • Measure chest, waist, hips and the length you prefer.
  • Compare with a garment you already love.
  • Read the cut description on the product page.
  • Choose the larger size when in doubt for layers, the usual size for relaxed cuts.
  • Ask us on WhatsApp if you are still unsure.
